Line Haul Services
The term "line haul" in logistics describes the transportation of cargo between far-off cities by land, air, or sea. Volume and weight of freights can vary greatly, ranging from little documents to large pallets. At a designated depot, freight is collected from several senders by 3PL Less than Truckload (LTL) carriers and courier, express, and parcel (CEP) providers.
Freight with shared destinations is combined at that depot and transported in trailers either to a sorting facility (hub) or to one or more other types of depots (distribution facilities, for example).
Freight from various origins is processed and then consolidated one more in a sorting facility before being transported to its final destination. The Line Haul Network is the collective name for the supporting network of hubs, depots, tractors, trailers, dockworkers, and drivers. With the help of this kind of network, the freight transportation industry can effectively manage large volumes of operations.
